Because clip-ins aren't attached to your scalp, they don't collect natural oils the same way your natural hair does. We recommend washing your extensions every fifth wear, or whenever they start to feel heavy, look dull, or have noticeable product and environmental buildup from being out for the night.
Overwashing is one of the fastest ways to shorten the lifespan of your clip-ins, so resist the urge to wash them after every single wear and they'll stay soft and beautiful for much longer.
How to Wash Your QALI Clip-Ins
When it is time to wash, keep it gentle and straightforward:
- Detangle first — before any water touches your extensions, gently brush through them with a soft bristle brush starting at the ends and working your way up.
- Use cool or lukewarm water — hot water breaks down the hair cuticle faster and shortens the life of your extensions significantly
- Apply a hydrating shampoo — work it through the hair in a downward motion, never scrubbing or bunching the hair. - Gently squeeze out excess water — never wring or twist

Heat Styling Your Extensions
Every single time you apply heat to your extensions — curling, straightening, waving — use a heat protectant first. Extensions don't have the same natural resilience as your own hair and heat damage is irreversible.
